HELPING US HELP OUR GIRLS

Dear Alumnae and Friends,

The Academy of the Holy Family, a Catholic day and boarding high school for American and International young women, continues to carry on the tradition of educating young women in excellence, a tradition that has been unbroken for the past 135 years. While offering our students a challenging academic program which includes both Honors and Advanced Placement courses, the Academy fosters a family spirit within its student body. Young women have opportunities to thrive in this nurturing atmosphere, thus being empowered to reach their full spiritual, intellectual, moral and social potential.

While we face many new challenges, the largest and most concerning is the need for financial aid for students with hopes of attending the academy. Over 85% of our students who apply ask for financial aid and with our limited resources it is almost impossible to address their needs. Our fear is that without proper funding, many of these students will be turned away.

We are all going through a difficult time. The economy has not regrouped as fast as first thought. Many people have lost their jobs and have made extreme sacrifices in order to keep some type of normalcy in their lives. At the Academy of the Holy Family we understand the struggles that families face and share in the frustration that comes with limited resources and limited time.

It is in this spirit and understanding that I write to you in hopes that we may find a way to establish some normalcy together by helping us continue the education of our young women as we prepare them for college, for life, and to achieve their full God-given potential to impact the world.

Please give whatever you can to help support our mission, our school, and the young lives waiting to start their futures. Our spirit is strong and with your help we’ll be able to continue educating young minds in a supportive, family environment for many years to come.

Our goals continue to sustain us:

  • To provide a Christian formation according to authentic Catholic teaching
  • To nurture self-motivated intellectual development through a structured and challenging curriculum
  • To tailor our curriculum to meet individual needs whenever possible
  • To place a high standard on personal accountability and integrity
  • To provide a setting in which young women can realize and develop the richness of their personal worth
  • To prepare students to meet life’s challenges of living a Christian and moral life in today’s society
  • To accept as a sacred trust the commitment to serve the poor

Sincerely,
Sister Mary Loreto
