Paper about MOST written by Alexandra Lutken, 2011-2012

MOST (Media skills, Organization skills, Study skills, Time management) is a course designed to get freshmen ready to be successful high school students. It is a guided study hall in which the teacher presents lessons on the above skills, and gives students practical opportunities to use these skills in conjunction with other courses. Eventually this course will transition to a regular, independent study period as students demonstrate the independence necessary to be success students.

Philosophy of the Program—
All students can be successful. In order to be successful students need to find and use tools that will help them. Since our students come from various backgrounds, it is to their advantage to sit together and get all the same information about these skills and tools

Topics/Skills to be covered in the Program—
Time Management, Study Skills, Computer/Media Usage, Library Skills
Media Literacy, Organization Skills

Student Expectations—
Students will demonstrate that they can use organizational and study materials such as Edline, assignment books, calendars, test taking tips, and worksheets.
Students will develop the time management skills necessary to plan long term assignments, finish tasks on time, and to be in class at the beginning of the period prepared for work.
Students will be exposed to a variety of media, including the school library, computers, and the Internet, that are available to them in their studies.
